Local Car Club Raises Over $20,000 for Charities Through Community Events

YORKTOWN — The Classic Cruisers Car Club (CCCC) of Yorktown raised over $20,000 for local charities through community events this year.

CCCC was started in 1993 to provide owners of classic vehicles the opportunity to associate with others while serving their community.

In a successful 2021 season, the club organized, sponsored and hosted more than twenty-seven Saturday Night Cruise-ins and three car shows from April through October that brought free family entertainment to the community. 

Through these events, the club raised over $20,000 for local charities, including Natasha House, Coastal Community Church, Alzheimer’s Association Southeastern Virginia, Peninsula Foodbank and American Parkinson Disease Association.

“Our over seventy members are dedicated individuals and families who donate over 1,600 man hours each year to efforts that benefit our community,” CCCC spokesperson Al Crane said.

Members include active and retired military, teachers, health workers and local business employees of all ages.

The club also supported the York County Library Fall Carnival in October, and have partnered with the Conner Gweedo Memorial Foundation to promote driver safety and awareness.

The club also made eight visits with their classic cars to local retirement communities and assisted living facilities in the area to bring cheer and memories to residents and health workers, Crane said. 

Capping off the 2021 season, CCCC participated in the 25th Mayflower Marathon Food Drive at the Kroger Parking lot in Yorktown on Sunday, Nov. 21, collecting frozen turkeys, food and donations to help their neighbors in need this holiday season.

In addition to fundraising for local charities, the club also promotes interest in classic vehicles, assist owners in maintenance and preservation of their classic vehicles and participate in local community events and car shows.

The club’s cruise-in season will resume in April 2022.
