Promote Passenger Safety: WSYR

(WSYR-TV) β€” The topic of safety on our roads is something we talk about from time-to-time, but this week being National Passenger Safety Week, it’s the perfect time to rehash the issue. Tammy Guido is sharing her personal story to alert others about the ways that passengers can help vehicles stay safe on the road.

Tammy has been speaking out for Road Safety since her son Conner was killed in a crash in 2019, at age 16. He was in a car with an unlicensed teen driver who was speeding.

Passengers accounted for 24 percent of passenger vehicle fatalities nationwide in 2020, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Tammy reminds us to speak up if the driver is distracted or engaging in unsafe activities. If your driver is sleepy, texting, speeding, or engaging in dangerous behavior, she urges us as passengers to speak up.
